To obtain the CB test certificate, the LBR Med lightweight robot had to fulfill medical requirements and conform to international standards such as IEC 60601-1:2016 and IEC 62304:2006 (First Edition) + A1:2015. This involved rigorous testing of both the hardware and software of the 7- and 14-kilogram payload variants. The assessment also ensured compliance with safety requirements for medical electrical devices. Accredited certified bodies conducted the inspections throughout the software development life cycle.

This sensitivity is valuable for tasks like manual guidance, teleoperation with haptic support, gravity compensation, applying predefined forces during motion, or adaptive responses to process forces. Additionally, the integrated sensors enable safe collision detection, facilitating human-robot collaboration (HRC).
